Imagine finding a place that’s tucked away from the touristy areas of a holiday hot spot – the sort of place that you could sit in all afternoon watching the boats glide in and out of the port and then watch the sun go down whilst tucking into local cuisine and sipping delicious cocktails and local wine.
This is exactly what happened when we stumbled across Cala Bandida whilst out walking the dogs and we both instantly feel in love with it. Its located in Javea’s port and has a panoramic view of port beach and across to the Arenal side of Javea.
From what we can tell, it’s recently been refurbished and is ultra trendy and modern without being pretentious. White walls with beautiful teal and gold accessories (my fav combo anyway!)
The menu uses locally sourced produce and you can have breakfast, a light lunch, some tapas or a sumptuous dinner. If it’s a little chilly and you still want to sit outside there are soft cosy blankets which are stamped with the restaurant’s logo.
Unfortunately we’ve never managed to take a photo of the food we’ve eaten but we can confirm that the club sandwich with chicken, bacon, parmesan and avocado is delicious as are the Mojitos and Kir Royal!
The staff are friendly and we’ve had some fun trying to speak the language in ordering some of the dishes – the waitresses have been laughing at our pronunciation…particularly when trying to order a ginger cookie!!
We’re hoping to visit again (prob for the last time – boo!!) on Tuesday to sample the breakfast menu.
We’ve definitely taken eating out to the next level whilst we’ve been away – there’s going to be some serious cut backs on the eating / drinking front when we return!
