Margaret’s Buildings in Bath is a charming little pedestrian street of independent small shops, bistros and art galleries – you might have read my review on The Green Bird Cafe. It wasn’t until a couple of weeks ago I noticed a new shop had suddenly popped up and I managed to spend some time with Vanessa, the owner of Homefront Interiors.
Homefront is an emporium housing unique homewares and vintage finds. There is an eclectic mix of vintage, homemade, refurbished and sustainable goods on offer together with pieces that have been created by local artists. It’s the sort of shop that you could lose yourself in for an hour as there are hidden trinkets everywhere – it wasn’t until I was looking back at these photos that I noticed all the frames hanging up on the wall!
Vanessa tells me that the doors have been open for a little over 2 months now and business is going well. The website is currently being developed further so that you can see what stock is in store and items can be mailed out. This will be especially lucrative for the tourists that pass through Bath during the summer months and want to purchase an item which is too bulky to take back in their luggage.
Plans for the future include running some creative workshops in the basement space of the store, potentially starting in the autumn and could include lampshade workshops.
So next time you are in Bath, have a little wander up to Homefront Interiors and see what hidden treasures you can find yourself!
