Eating our way around Camden

You might have read in my last post that we recently stayed at Gordon Ramsey’s hotel, the York & Albany. The hotel is situated on the edge of Regents Park and is close to London Zoo. It’s also a 5 minute walk into Camden.  I thought I’d share with you a couple of things we got up to!

I wasn’t sure whether to publish this after the weekends awful news.  Our capital city is such a wonderful, diverse place with so much to offer to everyone – let’s not be afraid and stand together.

Street Art

I love all the crazy things attached to the buildings – there’s so much going on you’re not sure whether to look up or down!

Halloumi Fries @ Oli Babas

It’s been a few years since I went to Camden and visited the street food stalls.  I’d spotted Oli Babas all over Instagram and knew that I HAD to get my hands on these bad boys!

Deep fried Halloumi topped with mint, pomegranate, za’atar yoghurt & sumac, they were possibly one of the yummiest things I’ve ever eaten!!!  We shared a portion as we were given extra for JB’s honesty with his change.

Vegan Feast at Club Mexicana

We spotted Club Mexicana and headed straight over – it  sent until we were scanning the menu we realised it was a vegan affair.  I went with the nachos loaded with vegan cheese, guacamole, hot sauce and soya sour cream.  JB had the burrito which had pulled ‘pork’ in (we didn’t get a photo of this!)  This was actually  jackfruit which has the texture of meat.  It has little taste until it’s flavoured with loads of spices.

Chin Chin Labs

I’d also spotted Chin Chin on Instagram too and wanted to sample some of the amazing ice cream made using nitrogen.  The ice cream is all handmade on site.  It reminded me of my days working at a pharmaceutical company with all the lab equipment involved.

We weren’t disappointed with our choices!  I had vanilla tonga bean with grilled whites chocolate.  JB opted for dairy free raspberry and rose jam with hazelnut sand.

Do you have any recommendations for our next visit?!

Those halloumi fries look so delicious! The raspberry and rose ice cream sounds great too. It’s fun to take a canal boat trip when you’re next in the area

I absolutely love Camden market – one of my favourite places in London plus that ice-cream looks so good.
I might have to try it out when I go back to London this summer 🙂
