Finding the Secret Garden

I’ve been popping into Bradford on Avon on and off for a few years.  There are lots of wonderful independent shops and cafes and it’s closer to us than Bath. I’m not sure how many times I’ve wandered through Lambs Yard however I’ve never spotted The Secret Garden tucked away!

The building dates back to 1645 but Dave Shepherd took over back in 2016 and turned it into the cafe it is today.

Dave wanted to create a spot for tourists and locals however wanted to help the community.  He focused on recruiting local people and using local suppliers including home made cakes and teas from Leafy Tea.

Nestled in between the tables inside are lots of nostalgic garden bits and bobs which create a welcoming space to enjoy tea and cake or grab a light lunch.  They cater for vegans which is great to see plenty of choice for them.  Doggies are also welcome with water bowls and a treat box.

If you’re looking for a tea and cake stop whilst in Bradford on Avon, I would definitely recommend the Secret Garden.  I feel as though I should be keeping this as my secret!!

Looks lovely Emma. I’m always looking for new places to go for tea/coffee & cake with Tony & he loves BOA so will definitely be popping in here, after your recommendation, to give it a try! Thank you. A x

Oh it looks like such a cute wee spot! I have never been to Bradford on Avon before but it looks like it must be a lovely town. If I ever visit I’ll have to wander through the Lambs Yard

We are mostly a town of independent traders and very proud of the fact. Likewise, I too, have an independent business in Bradford on Avon, in fact those are my cakes which are featured above. All homemade with love and a passion to use good quality local ingredients. I supply Dave at the Secret Garden cafe as well as having a stall at the Local Producers Market, part of the local Food Assembly and I also bake rustic celebration cakes. Thanks for mentioning the cakes but if anyone would like to put a name to the baker it’s Dotty the Cake Lady, who can be found on Facebook, Instagram & Twitter. Many thanks and much cakey happiness.
