Staying at The Wynn

Following on from my Top 5 Vegas Visits, today I thought I’d share with you the hotel we stayed at – the fabulous Wynn Hotel, Las Vegas.

Located at the north end of the Strip, the Wynn stands on the grounds of where Sands Casino once welcomed the Rat Pack.  (The Peppermill bar is just up the road, another haunt of the Rat Pack).  You could say it’s the bloggers hotel of dreams; the outside of the building is copper coloured and there is marble everywhere you turn.

We had booked a Deluxe Panoramic Room which gave us floor to ceiling windows with a brilliant view over part of the strip, especially as our rooms was on the 59th floor!  Compared to other rooms I’ve stayed in during visits to the US, this room was HUGE!  There was an oversized bath, the biggest shower and also his & hers sinks.  Our bed was insanely comfortable and again…HUGE!  My only complaint was that there wasn’t complimentary water and it was charged at $6 a bottle.  The decor of the bedrooms was kept beautifully simple with creams and browns with pops of red making if feel homely rather than corporate.

Breakfast was like nothing you’d seen before.  There was the usual array of fresh fruits, yogurts and cereals together with fresh crisp croissants.  You could have pancakes made to order (no, I did NOT have pancakes with M&M’s one morning).  If you fancied an omelette, this was also made to order.  However, if you fancied some sushi or a slice of pizza, this was also covered.  If after all of that, you were still peckish, you could have ice cream…or a toffee apple…or a cheesecake…or any other kind of dessert you can imagine!  Talk about a HUGE choice!

The staff were amazingly friend and the standard of service was second to none.  This was shown on our first full day when our helicopter tour was postponed and our show bookings was cancelled due to the horrible shooting 12 hours before we arrived.  Liza at guest service / concierge was incredibly helpful in rearranging our helicopter tour to later in the week, finding us an alternative show and then rearranging dinner reservations we had made.  She was never flustered and despite us being with her for over 30 minutes, she couldn’t have done enough for us.

This little chap was ready to be snapped up and bought home.  You could purchase Popeye for an eye watering $23 million. Rumour has it that an offer of $40 million was recently turned down…!!!
