Ah, New Year’s Eve – the time for reflecting about the year gone past and looking forward to the year to come and what it will bring.
I have never been a fan of New Year, I’m much more of a Christmas lover so I’m never particular fussed about what we’re doing on New Year’s Eve.
Most people will wake up tomorrow, probably with a bit of a sore head and think to themselves ‘I’m joining the gym’, ‘I’m doing dry January’, ‘I’m cutting back on what I eat’, ‘I’m going to be a better version of me’.
But why…why do we it to ourselves? We all know the statistics that most people will drop out of their resolutions by mid-January. Have we set our goals too high and are they unrealistic? Going to the gym 4-5 days a week when you’ve never been before is a pretty tough challenge for anyone. Do we have to wait until the dawn of a new year to ‘improve’ ourselves?
Isn’t it enough that we manage to run businesses or hold down a job, run a home, raise children (or not), have a social life, plan a holiday, keep pets, run a blog or another hobby. Why are we adding yet another ‘thing’ to our list??
This year I intend to do what I feel like doing as and when – if I want to go mad with fitness for a couple of weeks then I will but I equally won’t feel bad if I take a couple of months off. I want to continue the decluttering process within the house and be less about material things but more experiences. Travel more is ALWAYS on my ‘wish list’!
Have an amazing New Years Eve – you’ll be reading this as I’m on the way to my first trip of 2018!
