During a recent visit to London, we were looking for a place for breakfast / brunch. After putting a call out on Twitter, Timmy Green‘s in Nova, Victoria came up time and time again.
Timmy Green’s is part of the Daisy Green ‘chain’ which brings relaxed and buzzing Australian food and coffee culture to London.
The restaurant is named after the brother of founder Prue Freeman. A bonafide Australian cowboy, the original Timmy Green was devoted to his land and the food is inspired by a hearty, healthy diet with a focus on grass fed meats.
The restaurant is large and airy with huge floor to ceiling windows allowing light to flood the main area.
With huge choice of really ‘different’ breakfasts to chose from, it took us a while! I chose the ‘Fancy bacon roll’ which in fact was not a roll at all but a paratha roti filled with bacon (of course), poached eggs, crispy onion and their holy f**k hollandise sauce.
JB had The Bondi, which included bacon, poached eggs, sausage, mushrooms, avocado and charcoal toast. What is charcoal toast I hear you ask…it’s made with cold, fermented, activated charcoal sourdough and I have to say was really nice despite the black appearance!
Despite the food being incredibly delicious, the service was a little on the slow side and we had to chase up our drinks and then chase again to get another round. The restaurant wasn’t busy so I’m not sure why the service was slower than expected.
I understand that at the weekend they do a Bottomless Brunch…there’s prosecco on TAP people!! What I liked was the fact that there’s the ability to be as naughty with breakfast as you want or there’s plenty of options for something more super healthy if you want. There’s also a good selection for the vegans amongst us.
With 10 different restaurants across London from Victoria, Regents Street and Soho, I’d really recommend a visit to a Daisy Green restaurant!
