10 Years – 10 Highlights

Wow – the end of a decade! So much has happened in the last 10 years that it’s probably the most significant decade of my almost 40 years on this earth. It’s been pretty difficult to get just 10 highlights together but here goes…

2013 – Getting Married

I couldn’t start this without mentioning this incredible day!

2012 – Getting Engaged

I seriously had no idea that during our first trip to Dubai which saw us see in 2012 that it would include a proposal. JB thought doing it on New Years Eve was too obvious so decided to do it on 1st January instead. He arranged for the hotel chauffeur to take us to the At.Mosphere bar at the top of the Burj Khalifa and it was there that he proposed. I was completely shocked and didn’t see it coming at all.

2013 – Honeymoon in Australia

This was the first time I’d ever had a 3 week holiday, let alone fly across the world to Australia. We had a fantastic time taking in Sydney, the Blue Mountains, Hunter Valley, Brisbane, Fraser Island, Melbourne and then Dubai (again!) on the way home. This was before my blogging days so maybe I need to write about it!

2015 – Setting up Boatman Admin Services

I still find this one hard to believe – I quit a job that I was deeply unhappy with with no traditional job to go to. If it wasn’t for JB I wouldn’t have had the confidence to walk away and step into the unknown. Within 6 months we’d set up Boatman Admin Services, a virtual admin company supporting other small businesses do their admin – 4 years on and I love it!

2015 – Connie arrives!

Poor Roxy’s life was never the same after we bought Connie home from Bromley. Every time we had a visitor she looked expectantly at them in the hope they’d take this annoyingly hyper little puppy with them!

2017 – JB is 50!

We had a LOT of fun celebrating JB’s special year. It included a trip to Vegas with a helicopter trip over the Grand Canyon, a weekend away at the Celtic Manor, a big birthday meal with friends, JB playing at Arsenal in a charity football match and a trip to the World Athletics Championships where we say Usain Bolt for the third and final time.

2012 – Graduation

In 2012 I graduated from Manchester University with a Post Graduate Diploma in Clinical Research. It’s got to have been one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. There were lots of tears, lots of throwing text books – and don’t get me started on trying to learn statistics (I opted to fail that module by not doing it at all!!)

2019 – VA of the Year Finalist

Somehow I was nominated as Virtual Assistant of the Year in the national PA Life awards. I took myself out of my comfort zone and went up to London for the awards ceremony – sadly it wasn’t my time but to be recognised in a national award was amazing!

2016 – Living in Spain for 6 weeks

With us both being self-employed we took the opportunity in 2016 to take a road trip to Spain where we stayed in JB Mums villa for 6 weeks. I honestly don’t know who enjoyed it more – us or the dogs! We’d love to holiday abroad again with Connie in the coming years.

2019 – Abu Dhabi Grand Prix

This might seem a bit of a strange one to finish on – this holiday was a trip of a lifetime for JB. Such a huge GP fan, he’d wanted to go to a live event ever since he was small. The 3 days we were at the circus he acted like an excited little boy at Christmas which was just brilliant to see!

What a decade!!! What have been your highlights from the last 10 years?
