Lockdown Silver Linings Tag

Week 5 of Lockdown…I think. Days are merging into one and it’s difficult to differentiate a week day to a weekend at the moment. I don’t normally get involved with Blogger Tag posts however during these crazy Covid-19 times, it’s good to focus on the positives, no matter how big or small they might be.

Lockdown Silver Lining #1 – The Weather

How blessed are we to have such amazing weather so far! I’m not sure how we’d all be feeling if we were experiencing this lockdown during the colder, darker, winter months. We’re incredibly fortunate to have a garden so we’ve been able to enjoy the sunny weather with an ice-cream or 5 (or a cold alcoholic beverage!). It does mean that all that organising, decluttering and other tasks I’d intended to do have gone by the wayside but it’ll still be there in the coming weeks and months.

Lockdown Silver Lining #2 – Slower Living

Be honest, we all probably crave some slower times when we’re rushing around during our ‘normal’ routines. I hope that we’ll come out of this with a new normal, we won’t all be rushing back to our usual pace of life. Its been refreshing to not have to be anywhere at a particular time or have calls on our time. I wouldn’t say I’ve been bored but I have missed family and friends despite a stream of zoom / Houseparty / FaceTime calls.

Lockdown Silver Lining #3 – Supporting Small Business

Long time readers will know that we’re super passionate about supporting smaller businesses however we’ve tried really hard to increase this during these difficult times. A local farmshop is now doing deliveries so we’ve had fruit, veg and meat boxes. We’ve had vegan brownies through the letterbox. We’ve had warm butternut squash and feta tartlets and fresh crusty bread left on the doorstop.

Lockdown Silver Lining #4 – Shopping Less

Spending habits have changed dramatically. No meeting up with friends for coffee and cake or clients for lunch. I’ve done one Amazon order this month and that was for treats / toys for Connie to keep her entertained whilst we’ve had to adapt our longer country walks for walks around the block. We’re good shopping every 12 days or so and really utilising what’s in the back of the cupboards. I’ve been using beauty samples that have been gathering dust in the cupboard and finishing products that are half used. It’s surprising just how often we’d pop to the supermarket to get something that had run out or forgotten for dinner. Now we’re making do with what we’ve got and adapting recipes as we can.

Lockdown Silver Lining #5 – Upping my Skincare Routine

As a bit of a skincare obsessive, this lockdown period has been the ideal time to spend some time doing all the face masks and peels that you don’t normally have time to do. My eyebrows and hair roots might be all over the place but I’ll come out of lockdown with a glowing complexion!! I’ve had a strange reaction to come eye cream that I’ve been using for the last 3 months so I’m quite glad that I haven’t had any meetings where I’ve needed to leave the house!

The Lockdown Silver Linings Tag was created by Twin Mummy and Daddy and I was tagged by Life with KT Kinnes. The rules of the tag are simple – list 5 silver linings to come out of this lock down, and tag 5 people to share theirs.

I’ve definitely enjoyed spending more time on my skin the past few weeks too! I guess in a way it’s nice to just settle into a relaxed rhythm where I don’t have to be somewhere or do something constantly
