Timbrells Yard

We decided to visit Timbrells Yard in Bradford on Avon for Sunday lunch for a couple of reasons – firstly I’d heard some great things about the food plus it was my Mum’s birthday.  Mum’s maiden name was Timbrell so I thought this was a fitting place to celebrate!

The building has been redesigned in the last year and it’s got lots of vintage treasures and traditional features mixed together. On arrival, you’re greeted by the bar and a huge log fire.  Despite the bar being fairly small and cosy, the restaurant is large and airy with another area where you can have bigger groups seated together.

I’d called ahead and booked a table, mentioning it was Mum’s birthday.  Once seated we were greeted with complimentary glasses of prosecco which was a super unexpected treat!

cheers

There was plenty to choose from on the menu including a selection of different meats for a roast plus an veggie option or a chorizo burger if roast wasn’t your thing.   It’s obviously important that the food is fresh and they rely on using the best West Country produce.  We decided not to go for starters as we wanted to enjoy the main courses…plus I always want to have a peek at the desserts (my favourite course!)

The food came pretty quickly after we’d ordered and it was delicious – it was beef all round apart from one serving of pork (the crackling looked amazing!).

Once our plates were pretty much licked clean we decided that we had enough room to squeeze in a dessert.  I went for a salted caramel & chocolate tart, Ivy House thick cream & honeycomb, JB opted for a honey roasted pear but rather than yogurt semifredo he had a cherry sorbet (dairy free option), Nige had the rocky road sundae with toffee sauce & homemade vanilla ice cream  and Mum went for the simple homemade vanilla ice-cream.  Everyone confirmed their puds were scrummy!

We can really recommend this gastro-pub…friendly staff, great food and super relaxed atmosphere – family friendly plus dogs are welcome too!!
