Selfie – noun – a photograph that one has taken of oneself, typically one taken with a smartphone or webcam and shared via social media
There’s a day for everything right – obviously we all know about Mothers Day, Fathers Day, World Gin Day, Cupcake Day, (important in the HWO household!)…but did you know there’s a National Selfie Day?! This year it falls on 21st June 2017 and I’ve been lucky enough to receive the Selfie Bag from the Cotton Bag Co to help achieve that Instagram worthy selfie!
There are two swish designs (the funky bright coloured bag which I received) or a beautiful gold print on black. These bags hold a couple of zipped compartments for your phone and your selfie stick plus a fold out reflector sheet so you can nail those bright images. The bag itself is really spacious and would be great to take out for a picnic or day trip out as there is plenty of room for all your essential bits and bobs.
Did you know…
- 74% of images shared on Snapchat are selfies
- 1000 selfies are posted to Instagram every 10 seconds
- Instagram photos that feature faces get 30% more likes than those without
- There are 93 million selfies each day!
Does taking selfies make you narcissistic?! If all you post over your social media platforms are of selfies, then probably yes but it can also build your confidence or give out a message. During the recent general election I saw plenty of famous people (& bloggers) posting selfies outside the polling stations to say they had voted and to remind others to vote. I think this is great as it really encouraged people to get out and cast their vote on a really important day for the UK. If you’re happy to post that sweaty post-gym selfie because you’re proud of what you’ve just achieved then why the heck not?!
Below are a selection of my favourite selfies that I’ve taken over the recent weeks / months!
