#Project3000 – months 6 & 7

It’s #Project3000 update time! As you’ll have read in my previous posts, the concept is simple -the average home has approximately 300,000 single items in it (crazy, right?!). The idea is that you get rid of 1% of that total – being 3000.

We’ve already cleared out 605 items which I’m pretty pleased with. I thought we lived in a relatively clutter free home!

In all honesty, the last couple of months have been incredibly busy and decluttering has been SO far down the list of things to do. Not to mention the last couple of weeks in July being some of the hottest ever, it just hasn’t been happening.

We’ve had a few days away here and there (you can read about our stay in Stratford upon Avon here) so I’ve managed to use up a fairly hefty number of samples that I’d picked up over the months. I also managed to get rid of 5 pairs of shoes and 5 handbags. My clothes remain an ongoing project over the year as I’m only just doing my summer wardrobe now that the weather allows us to wear them! JB has however really made some head way with his wardrobe and donated to charity a total of 21 items.

We still haven’t tackled the kitchen properly or the garage but I won’t forget to do them! We got rid of 2 coffee machines and were left with 26 coffee pods so donated these to a friend. I have a feeling that we’ll probably need to go round the house again as that will see every room complete. It’s surprising how quickly things start to creep in again – the office had some empty shelves but they are gradually filling back up.

I’m not sure we’ll make the 3000 target by the end of the year but it’s definately been an eye opener as to just how much ‘stuff’ we have in our homes.

Month 1 total – 145

Months 2 & 3 total – 240

Months 4 & 5 total – 220

Months 6 & 7 – 111

Overall total – 716

I love this idea so much! I am really trying to use up everything at the moment so I’m not wasteful, and I’m stopping buying any beauty x

You can’t beat a good declutter. Currently working my way through our house atm.

We moved home last year so I had a huge declutter then. I still need to tackle our garage though. Who knows what I’ll find in there!
