Gorrans Restaurant at The Llawnroc

We recently stayed at the super lovely Llawnroc Hotel in Gorran Haven for a couple of nights.  You can catch up on my review here

The manager Kieran arranged for us to have a 6 course taster menu at the Gorrans Restaurant found inside the hotel.

I’d never had a taster menu before so really wasn’t sure what to expect – now I’m not that daft to know that each course isn’t full size!

Max Savage is the head chef at the hotel and keeps the menu fresh and simple using locally sourced produce such as Cornish strawberries, local asparagus coupled with scallops from Mevagissey and fresh eggs from St Ewes.

Without further a-do, here’s a photo roundup of each course!

The steaks were really well cooked and melted in your mouth.  Anyone who knows me knows I don’t really ‘do’ fish (unless it’s from the chipshop) however I was quite the grown up and tried the scallops and the crab – both of which I really enjoyed and might even choose from the menu again if I saw it.

I preferred the strawberry dessert – it was super light and refreshing at the end of the meal.  It should have clotted cream with it but because John can’t have dairy they left it off but you didn’t really miss it.

All in all each plate was delicious and strangely we didn’t feel overstuffed at the end.

Anyone in Cornwall looking for a super lovely meal should definitely get a table booked at this hotel restaurant.
