Chai Walla – Indian Street Food

Super quick blog post today – I simply had to tell everyone about this little gem!  Admittedly I’m a little late to the party as Chai Walla opened in February 2016 and everyone I know in Bath completely raves about it!

Tucked away next to Sainsburys on Kingsmead Square, Chai Walla serves takeaway Indian street food  such as samosas, onion bhajis and daal.  The menu is simple but everything is homemade by Niraj (his Mum still oversees what he cooks and ensures that everything is to her standard…despite the shop being his!!)

I’d heard through the Bath Bongo Drums that I needed to be there early if I wanted lunch otherwise there is a queue out of the door.  I was there just before midday and was 2nd in the queue already!  I had no idea what I wanted but I knew I wouldn’t be disappointed – the smells were divine and everything looked delicious.

After much debate with Niraj he said for my first experience I should go for the Onion Bhaji Roti Wrap – hot bhaji broken up and placed onto a layer of mango chutney with salad, tamarind and mint sauce.  This also came with a samosa and came to grand total of £5.

I was not disappointed – the flavours were intense and there was a kick of chilli in there.  Probably the best fiver I’ve spent on food in a long time!

So, the photos aren’t great but I can definitely recommend Chai Walla to anyone and everyone in search of grabbing  a quick bite to eat in Bath!

That looks absolutely scrummy. I’ll have to give it a go on one of my trips to Bath.
