The Field Kitchen in Holt

The Field Kitchen is like nowhere else I’ve been to here in sleepy Wiltshire.  Nestled in the countryside village of Holt,  you’ll find the Glove Factory – a contemporary workspace that is a thriving hub of small start up businesses, creative entrepreneurs and those that are looking for a splash of inspiration where they work.  At the head of the site stands The Field Kitchen which overlooks the countryside and is a perfect place for grabbing a coffee between meetings, refuelling after a cycle ride or just a general great place to hang out…which we did over the May Bank Holiday.

The chefs at The Field Kitchen are passionate about using locally sourced ingredients and in the gardens you’ll find plenty of produce growing.  The menu changes seasonally and they will incorporate their wares from the garden appropriately.

The interior is very modern and industrial.  With long tables you might find yourself sharing with someone the other end having a business meeting.  There are cosy sofas in one corner, a bookshelf with local reads, the daily papers and a few toys scattered around for the smaller visitors.

The menu has changed since my last visit and they’ve started to offer a brunch menu until 3pm which means you can have smashed avo on toast at any hour of the day!  Winner!  Needless to say, this was my brunch choice and it came topped with little sprigs of mint which initially I wasn’t sure about.  However…this is a game changer!  It’s delicious and I highly recommend it to those that have not tried.

JB went for the Farmers Breakfast which came with all the usual trimmings.  It looked pretty good and everything was cooked to perfection.

The grounds include a courtyard and garden terrace as well as 32 acres of landscaped pasture and two acres of lakes.  Great for dog walks to either build up your appetite or walk off that breakfast.

You can grab a sandwich to go, hire the venue for a conference or a wedding or just turn up and spend a couple of hours relaxing or getting your head down with some work.  There are also events coming up – the next is a Fire and Feast which will include huge sharing platters of delicious food.

Next time we go…we’re hoping the weather is kinder and we can take the dogs!
