It’s #Project3000 update time! As you’ll have read in my previous posts, the concept is simple -the average home has approximately 300,000 single items in (crazy, right?!). The idea is that you get rid of 1% of that total – being 3000.
We’ve already cleared out 385 items which I’m pretty pleased with. I thought we lived in a relatively clutter free home!
I went through my makeup and got rid of 10 products that were passed their best or I just didn’t like. I also managed to use up 17 from the beauty stash I have (although it doesn’t look as though it’s going down!). I also cleared out the bathroom cabinet and found 25 out of date medicines plus 2 toiletry bags, 2 face washes I don’t like and 2 aftershaves that John has never used.

The biggest space I’ve started to tackle over the last couple of months is our bedroom so that’s been our clothes and general paraphernalia. I’ve donated 12 jumpers…yet still have 2 drawers worth. Crazy! I’ve also donated 30 pieces costume jewellery, 2 pairs of jeans, 2 coats, 3 hoodies, 5 shirts, 3 pairs of trousers, 3 dresses, 2 jackets and 4 T-shirt’s. I still have a wardrobe that’s bursting out although I haven’t been through the summer items yet. I also haven’t done my shoes or handbags yet but I’m not someone who buys loads of these anyway.
In terms of general bits and bobs I’ve also got rid of some unused photo frames, an old dog collar, a broken kindle cover (not sure why I was holding on to it) and 7 empty boxes from birthday gifts – again…why was I keeping them?!

I went to a conference in February and have finally got round to going through all the various flyers etc that you are given along the way – 35 of them went into recycling! I did find a bar of chocolate, a Kind bar and a candle that I’d forgotten about so not all bad! From the office there’s a total of 50 items (inc the 35 flyers) despite having a huge clear out in 2018.

I haven’t really started on the kitchen yet or the garage. There is a huge amount in our garage to go to the tip which isn’t my favourite job in the world!
We’re still a long way to go to hit 3000 but the fact that we’ve already got rid of 605 items is pretty surprising!!
Month 1 total – 145
Months 2 & 3 total – 240
Months 4 & 5 total – 220
Overall total – 605
605 is so good though!! Well done!

I love this project, you’ve inspired me to have a massive clear out of my bedroom xx
605 is brilliant! Isn’t it funny what we keep? Like boxes from products etc xx
I find having a huge clearout so cathartic! It feels good to say ‘I don’t need this stuff’ haha

Wow 605!! Amazing, love this idea. x
I love having a clear out – I do it so often x
We recently moved so I had a huge declutter. It felt to good to really look at what possessions I have that are important and meaningful to me.
This is such a brilliant idea! You have done so well

That’s a great amount. I must do the same myself.
