If you’re a reader of this blog, you’ll know that I love a candle…or two…or three…or four!
My absolute favourite is probably the Jo Malone range but these aren’t cheap – if and when we do have one, it’s only lit for a short period of time before I’m jumping off the sofa to blow it out as if my life depended on it!
Whilst scrolling through Twitter a couple of weeks back I stumbled across Limelight, who are based locally to me in Bath. With both John and I running 2 small business ourselves, I like to try and support small independents whenever I can.
After a somewhat traumatic morning of travel disasters thanks to good old Great Western Railways, I met with the lovely Catherine who was kind enough to buy me a cup of tea and tell me all about the story of Limelight.
These candles are 2 years in development – they don’t contain any nasty chemicals in them. Catherine tries to live a ‘clean’ lifestyle so why wouldn’t you want to carry this through with products in your home. These candles are completely natural, with no added scent-bonding agents or lead wicks and the blended soy wax is from a sustainable source. In a very true Hygge fashion, these candles are currently made in Catherine’s home on her Aga. Catherine has just made a big decision to hand her notice in at work and concentrate on these products.
Catherine had bought with her a selection of candles for me to have a sniff of and was kind enough to gift me a tube which contains three silver lidded minis.
What really caught my eye of these candles was the attention to detail – from the beautiful silver lid to the little ribbon carefully added to each product. Not only that but each candle has the most amazing scent and a couple of them reminded me of another brand…
The candles don’t have names, but numbers – my three minis (12 hours each, £20 for 3) were:
No 1 – Lime, basil, bergamot and mandarin oils
No 3 – Fig, lime oil and vetiver*
No 5 – Jasmine and neroli
*this is my absolute favourite, it smells like holiday!
There are a couple of special editions out at the moment as well including Cluedo and Orange blossom (50 hours, £17.95). Candle prices start at 20cl for £13.95 (40 hours) all the way up to a 50cl 3 wick candle for £27.95 (65 hours) and then you can also get reed diffusers for £20.
If you’re looking for a gift for your Mum, your friends or simply yourself this Christmas then I would highly recommend jumping over to the Limelight website and placing an order!
