I’m taking part in the #project3000 challenge. The concept is simple – the average home has approximately 300,000 single items in (crazy, right?!). The idea is that you get rid of 1% of that total – being 3000.
I started as we welcomed in the New Year and successfully got rid of 145 in the first month.
I wrote at the end of January that I wanted to tackle one room at a time rather than randomly flitting between this and that with no real structure.
The only room I’ve done in the last 2 months is the lounge. There isn’t a lot of storage in this room but it’s surprising how much ‘stuff’ had accumulated in the 2 coffee table drawers and the bottom cupboard of a tall display unit. This included some birthday banners, some flyers that had come through the door, empty candle jars and 7 Next catalogues!
Decluttered from the lounge = 30
I made a huge effort to go through my beauty products after I’d decluttered them in January and start to use up items. I have an abundance of miniatures as well that I was keeping for when we travel however I’ve probably got enough to last a round the world trip thrice over!
Beauty products finished = 24
Despite my job as a virtual admin assistant I’m ashamed to say that our own admin was a little out of control. This was rectified by using a Redvers Office A4 Desk Storage Expander Free Document Wallet Folder. I gathered up all the paperwork tucked away in various files and folders around the house and diligently went through everything.
Paperwork destroyed = 186 (yes I then counted every document for this project!)
Naturally there’s been the usual practice of seeing something and deciding it needed to just go. This includes a broken lamp, two chipped glasses and a plate and 5 random dog related items / broken toys.
Random stuff = 10
Are you taking part in #project3000?! How are you getting on?!
Month 1 Total – 145
Month 2 & 3 Total – 240
Overall Total – 385

This is such a great idea! 3000 seems a lot initially but when you consider what you’ve got rid of it doesn’t seem all that much. I need to give it a go.

I love this concept so so much and I should probably do it myself! I feel like I would really benefit from it!
