2019 Travel Round…& 2020 Plans

Another year done and dusted – time to reflect on our travel from the previous year and look at where 2020 will take us! Looking at our wishlist from last year, we only managed to go to one of the places – Cambridge.

2019 Travel

Antigua

We started the year with a wonderful trip to Antigua to celebrate my Mum’s 60th birthday. We stayed at incredible CocoBay Resort for a week and they treated us like royalty.

Abu Dhabi

This was a bucket list holiday for JB – we managed to get tickets to see the Grand Prix! Regular readers will know that we’ve been to Dubai several times but never to neighbouring Abu Dhabi. I haven’t managed to write up our trip as yet but it was absolutely amazing. We made the decision to not to any of the other tourist hotspots such as the Grand Mosque and Ferrari World and just focus on being there for the GP. This meant lazy mornings by the pool, afternoons at the circuit and then evenings at concerts!

Venice

I went to Venice for a couple of nights with my good friend Kate of Copper and Blossom Photography. Again, I’ve been pretty poor in getting my blog post written. We were incredibly lucky with the weather despite going in early October. Blue skies and warm sunshine was just what we both needed from both being self employed.

UK Breaks

We peppered in a few UK breaks this year including K West Hotel in London, Cambridge plus The Bell at Alderton on the outskirts of Stratford on Avon and Margate.

Where will 2020 take us?

We’ve got quite a few plans this year lined up already – I can’t believe where we’re going this year!

Australia, New Zealand and Dubai

Beautiful sunsets over the Remarkable Mountains

Last year we received an invite to a friends wedding in New Zealand. They were totally honest and said they realised we’d only visited New Zealand in 2018 so would understand if we said no. Initially I priced up a trip to do Fiji for 10 days and 5 days in New Zealand – the price was insane so that soon went out the window! After a bit of consideration and finding some cheap flights, we’ve decided to go back to Melbourne, take a road trip down to the 12 Apostles, fly over to Christchurch for the wedding, a quick stop in Auckland and then a few nights in Dubai to break up the jet lag.

Paris

We’ve been incredibly fortunate to qualify for a 2 night break in Paris through one of our businesses. I’ve only ever been to Paris for work which was about 8 years ago. I did manage to meet my brother one evening who was living near Paris at the time. We did a super quick whistle stop tour of the city and had dinner by the Sacré-Cœur. I’m looking forward to seeing the city in Spring and take it a little slower.

Ibiza

A lot of our holidays over the last few years have been pretty full on. We’ve done a lot of road trips in America, Australia and New Zealand. Whilst these holidays are great fun, they can be pretty tiring. We’ve decided to do a week in Ibiza to enjoy the weather and fully relax and recharge.

These travel plans take us up to the middle of the year. I’m not sure if we’ll book any other overseas travel as I have a big birthday in 2021. There’s some planning going on for a holiday of a lifetime after JB’s big birthday plans in Vegas!

Where do your travel plans take you for 2020?
